Benagaluru May 2nd 2017. After garnering a cult following in Pune and Mumbai, Shizusan will open at Phoenix Marketcity Whitefield Benagaluru on Saturday May 6. Inspired by the 18th century shophouse boom during the colonial era, Shizusan’s story unfolds in the city with a gorgeous two-zone space: a restaurant inside with a live sushi and dim sum bar and a jazz bar-inspired open air zone perfect for cocktails. The menus here pay homage to the dishes and drinks commonly found at these establishments across Southeast Asia.

The launch was a delicious 3-day affair hosted by Romil Ratra and Chef Paul Kinny, Directors at Bellona Hospitality, and attended by the city’s crème de la crème. From food enthusiasts, artists, designers, business tycoons to the city’s leading influencers like Ila Dorairaj Naidu, Ram Chugh and Rubi Chakravarti – everyone enjoyed Maki Rolls, Dim Sums, Baos, Asian Cocktails, Curry Bowls, Ramen from across Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and other Asian countries over live Jazz music. The most popular cocktails proved to be the Saigon Lemonade, One Night in Bangkok and the magical colour-changing Hattori Hanzo by Tanai Shirali. The crowd favourites also included Korean Chicken Wings, Thai Beef Salad, Sriracha Blush, Black Pepper Lobster, Poached Chicken Dumplings, Kung Pao Red Pumpkin, Sizzling Buri Bop and Vietnamese Summer Rolls. 

Romil says, “Shizusan is our big Asian dream. It is everything that we love about Asia – right from its spirit, people and attitude to big flavours, local ingredients, high-pitched sizzle and clanking of the wok, and aromas that permeate through the tiny by lanes reminiscent of the colonial era. We hope Bengaluru enjoys the food, especially all the new additions exclusively done for the city.”
